If you use Google Vault for e-discovery, you may encounter a situation where you need to locate and export some of the encrypted emails sent by your Virtru users. Here's how:
Searching Vault with Virtru
If your subscription includes Virtru's Vault integration, you can simply search within Vault as you normally do. When Vault is enabled for your account, each email is tokenized using Virtru's patent-pending Encrypted Search technology. These tokens allow you - but not Virtru or Google - to query your encrypted messages.
To return only secure messages, include the phrase START PROTECTED MESSAGE TDF in your query.
To exclude any drafts, include -label:drafts.
Searching Vault without Virtru
Even if your Virtru subscription does not include Vault support, you can still use Vault to export a collection of secure emails for e-discovery. Simply include the phrase START PROTECTED MESSAGE TDF in your search to return only secure emails, and include -label:drafts to exclude drafts.
